Additional DA for state govt employees okayed

Lucknow Jan 14 (PTI) In a major sop to the state government employees, Uttar Pradesh government today okayed an additional instalment of dearness allowance (DA) from July 1, 2009.

An official spokesman here said that while the accumulated DA amount for the period between July 1 to December would be deposited in the provident fund from January 2010 it would be paid in cash.

This would benefit about 16 lakh officials and employees of the state, the spokesman said adding that it would also benefit teachers and employees of aided school and technical institutions , urban bodies and those covered under the UGC scales.

This decision would lead to an additional financial burden of Rs 1006 crores annually on the state exchequer, the spokesman added.
