Stop commenting on regional line: Meira Kumar


Bhopal,Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar today said that the best way to put an end to regional rhetoric was to stop commenting over it.

"The best way to put an end to this thing (regional rhetoric) is to stop commenting over it," Kumar told reporters after she was repeatedly asked to comment over Shiv Sena and MNS' campaign for 'Marathi Manoos' in Mumbai.

However, she said that Indians were free to live anywhere in the country.

"All Indians are patriots," Kumar, who inaugurated the 74th conference of presiding officers of legislative bodies from all over the country here said.

On whether organisations like Shiv Sena and Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena should be banned, she refused to comment.

Asked about MP Jaya Prada's fate in Parliament after her expulsion from Samajwadi Party, the Lok Sabha Speaker remarked, "let the papers come to my table".

According to the practise, the actor-turned politician from Rampur in Uttar Pradesh will continue to remain as member of the Lok Sabha, she said.
